Hello all, I am building a new rig because....... RYZEN! I have always been a fan of team red but they were always lacking, not anymore. I am going to build a gaming rig and wanted to know your thoughts. I have done research and watched buildazoids videos and many others and have narrowed it down quite a bit. I will be running an AMD Ryzen 5 1600, I just game so more than 6 threads I think would be wasted. I will be paring it with 3200 memory in 2 8gb sticks. I am looking at Geil Super Luce and Patriot. The 2 motherboards I have eyed are the MSI B350 Pro Carbon and the Asus B350 Strix respectively. I know the MSI board has a doubled 4+2 phase setup and the Asus has what looks like a 4+4 or 6+6. I like both boards but the Asus board seems to have the better feature set. Which would you pick and why? thx

Personally? I'd pick up the board that wouldn't conflict with the color scheme and the budget. That being said, if we were to know what the rest of your builds structure was, it's possible I/we could give you a more refined answer or perhaps a refined build. On another note, if you need to include an SSD per se, then an expensive board would need to take the back seat.

Just to add, i will prob be picking up a samsung evo 3.5 ssd in 500gb as i want everything on one now since i have experienced it lol. My mb budget is 130 bucks. I can get a redurbished corshair vi x370 board for that with a warranty but idk about it. It is asus direct though. But my gut says go new on a mb to get ths original warranty.

Do you already own the PSU? If not, a 1200 watt unit would arguably be overkill for that build, seeing as those components shouldn't ever draw more than around 400 watts from the PSU under load.

As for the motherboard, either one looks like it would likely be fine, though it is worth noting that some X370 motherboards fall into that price range as well.

I already own the psu. Was going to do an sli 1080 build until prices went plum crazy. I know some of the X370's are in that range but they seem to only offer sli and not a whole lot else. What mb's would you recommend?
