Greetings,
I bought (with the current ridiculously high price) a brand new 8Gbs asus dual GTX 1070.
So happy. I uninstall my gtx970 driver and all nvidia drivers from my windows 10 64bits. from my MSI z87-g41 motherboard. when I place the new card I see that the pin connectors are both 6x6 and 2 2x2, I placed one 6 and one 2. ok.
Now when I switched my pc on, after connecting my monitor to the motherboard, I see that no nvidia card appears, I searched everywhere and literally spent ALL DAY! (12 hours straight) doing everything that the internet/forums had to offer. and nothing....
I watched over a dozen videos, used DDU. upgraded windows to the latest version TWICE! (the one that you force... aswell) tried different nvidia drivers, tried the (edit the .txt nvidia files and add: 'PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0412&SUBSYS_78501462' for example, and I got nothing...

strangely enough, when I take the 1070 out and place the 970 in again, it's recognized straight away, even though no driver is installed and the monitor is connected to the intel integrated graphics

just to mention, the first thing that I did after connecting the 1070 was install the driver from the CD that came with it, just now (when I gave up) I placed the 970 back, and the cd installed all drivers without a problem.

the 1070 has NEVER been visible on the device manager, and while this card was connected I never managed to install anything coming from nvidia... how is it possible!

PLEASE! could anybody tell me what I did wrong of whether this card is actually NOT compatible with my pc? I would rather like to hear that than just nothing at all.

I used to have AMD cards in my previous pc, upgraded it and I had no problem at all, why is this happening with nvidia!?!

That is a good point here, did you check your power connectors? The odd thing that was written was something about a 6 pin and then 2 pin connections, they are actually a 6+2 which makes the 8 pin connection, they are not...
Your system should not have any issues detecting the video card. Try doing a BIOS update for the motherboard. Did you contact the vendor for support? For some reason a lot of people don't do that, they can help you sort out if the issue is a bad card or something with the system and get a replacement if needed.

Thanks for the answer,
I have checked and the version from the msi website for the BIOS is the same as the one I have (it hasn't been upgraded since 2014)
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z87-G41-PC-Mate

My system information shows : BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. V1.8, 21/07/2014

I bought it from Amazon; I'm going to ask for a refund, I don't want to try anything else...
It's probably the card after all.

Thank you

I thought that all GTX 1070's had 1x8pin connectors?

What is the brand and model of the power supply and did you check the PCIe cables you are using? You should have a PCIe 6+2 cable like the one on the right.
