SHORT VERSION

I had an XFX RX580 GTS XXX 8GB and the 2nd day of using it I runned 3Dmark to get some benchmark stats. After about 3 seconds my PC turned off and no matter what I did I couldn't get it running. Pressing the power button just caused the CPU and case fan to start for a split second and then nothing. My GPU's blue LED wasn't turning on so I unplugged the GPU completely and the PC booted. I have since send the GPU back to the retailer and pluged in my second RX580.

After about 2 weeks, I was playing Fornite, I alt-tabed for a minute and there we go again. My PC shuts off and I can't get it to work again. This time my GPU has a red LED instead of the usual blue one and it only shows for a split second when I press the Power Button. I forgot to plug the 8 pin when I was trying to figure out what happend and the PC booted with the GPU's LED beeing red and the buzzer beeping multiple times indicating the error.

(Question at the end)

LONG VERSION

So basicaly I'm the casual broke college student, I got a job and saved some money last summer. I decided to upgrade my PC since it's a 5 year old machine. I was initialy thinking of CPU, MOBO, RAM and a 1050ti. I then got into mining and foolishly decided to buy 2 RX580s for 270 euros (340$) each, which was a prety good deal. Some time after I made the order I realised that my PSU can't support both of the GPUs at max load but decided to get both of them since the price had skyrocketed to more than 550$ and flip one of them for some profit.

I get the GPUs to my place after about 2 months since I made the order, I try to swap the new GPU with my old and I realise it can't fit in the case...Fast forward 2 weeks later I get my new case I move my entire system there with the new GPU and get thinks started. First day I used furmark just to check on the card's performance and everything runned smoothly (max temp 74C). Second day I decided to run some more benchmarks, so I downloaded 3Dmark and after about 3 seconds of running it my PC turned off. I thought maby overheat? But nope. When I pressed the power button the CPU and case fan runed for a split second but the GPU's blue LED didn't. I plugged in my old GPU and the system booted properly. I shipped the GPU back to the retailer who has to send it to their supplier and check what is wrong with it. (After 2 weeks still haven't heard anything)

So I guess that's fine since I still have the 2nd card. So I plug in the 2nd GPU and keep using my PC like normal (Gaming mostly). After 2 weeks I was playing Fortnite and Alt-Tabed to check on the game's requirements since I was running it maxed out. After about a minute on Google Chrome my PC shut down out of nowhere again.(I could hear my Card's funs running on high RPM since I used wattman to set lower max temp in order to prevent any sword of overheat) I try to boot it back up and again nothing even after some time just in case it was overheat issue. Same thing like the first time, my CPU and case fans are running for a split second but this time the GPU flashes a red LED for a split second instead of the regular blue. As I was fiddling arround to see what happed I forgot to plug in the 8 pin and the machine booted with the GPU showing red LED and the buzzer beeping some times indicating the error. I tested the GPU to a second PC and got the same reaction when pluged in the 8 pin, a split second red LED. I guess I will send it again back to the retailer like the first one.

The thing that drives me crazy apart my money and time being wasted is that I don't know if I am doing something wrong or there is something wrong with both of the GPUs. I have read that maby the red LED indicates that something is wrong with the GPU's power delivery system.

Any ideas on what might have caused this to both of my GPUs?
I thought my PSU is defective but after some research I found that more people have issues with XFX products and also that their support isn't the best out there :/
Keep in mind that both were probably running at 100% at the time the died.

Any ideas whould be greatly apriciated, thank you for your time!

How old is the PSU? 5 years? To state it clearly, the unit is a very bad unit even if it was bought brand new. You should be looking at a reliable and robust unit(as close to Tier 1 as possible) for reliable computing.

To add, things just went from bad to worse for you since you were uninformed. Mining also taxes not just the CPU/GPU...it taxes everything which is why there are some regions voiding warrant when news of it's intended usage for mining is made aware to the retailer.

Thank you for your time, I am already in the market for a new PSU. I was thinking of getting a Corsair TX850M to run both of the cards.

Already uninstalled and reinstalled the MOBO so i guess a new PSU will do the trick, Thank you for your time!
