Hi guys !

I have a hp laptop with win 10 on it and need to downgrade it to win 7 via bootable usb.

I have changed all of the settings correctly, ie legacy boot secure boot etc etc, nothing works.

I tried on my personal laptop and it works fine, no clue why....

I burned the win7 onto my usb disint work, I made my usb a cd/dvd and tried to start the setup from the pc instead of bios, not working.

I tried every trick in the book and it wouldn’t work, I even tried restoring it through a usb but that wouldn’t work too, its just got to a point where the pc came up with a popup saying I need drivers, downloaded them plugged in a second usb device guess what “drivers not found”.

What else can I try that I might not know about.??

You can use a couple of utilities for creating a bootable drive with windows 7.

Rufus

Windows 7 USB/DVD tool

the usb creator linked by penguintech

I personally have used Rufus and the USB/DVD tool but not the one linked by penguintech.

after getting the program you wish to use you need to clean and format the drive.

open command prompt running it as administrator

enter the following commands followed by pressing the enter/return key after every command.

diskpart

listdisk

select disk # (# being the flash drive)

clean

create partition primary

select partition 1

active

format quick fs=fat32

assign

exit

exit

now your flash drive is properly cleaned and formatted and ready to be used to create a bootable flash drive.

make sure you set the necessary settings in BIOS for booting from USB.
