What does blue light filtering, which is advertised by, for example, Viewsonic, Asus, AOC and Benq in their monitors, actually does? Is it something as simple as they lower the level of blue color in RGB which can also be manually done from OSD menu (obviously then they also auto adjust red and green colors to each level of blue light reduction)? Or is it also something hardware related as well: is there an actual physical filter and/or do these monitors keep better color quality with lower blue light? To sum it up can you manually or with a help of f.lux adjust the settings of blue light to reach the same outcome on a monitor which does not have blue light filtering in comparison to the monitor which offers blue light filtering?

Question from Martins_4 : "Best G-sync monitor for eye protection"

Which monitor from the ones below would provide the best protection for eyes (eye strain and blue light, or in other words which has the best solution to eliminate screen flickering combined with the most effective blue light filter)

Acer Predator XB241H,
AOC AGON AG241QG,
AOC AGON AG251FG,
Alienware AW2518H

I would prefer G Sync monitor, but if they above are no good in protecting eyes then could consider also these:

BenQ Zowie XL2430
ViewSonic XG2402
AOC AGON AG241QX
AOC AGON AG251FZ

Dont want Asus monitor because I have a bad experience and I think they also do not use the best solution for screen flickering (meaning not using Direct Current).

Question from Martins_4 : "AOC low blue light technology"

Do you know what is the % of blue light filtered from the AOC monitors on the strongest Low Blue Light setting? I am not sure if I get this right. I can see that AOC in earlier years advertised as having a 90% filter with a technology called Anti Blue Light for some monitors, but now I see that AOC advertises monitors with only this Low Blue Light setting with no specification to how effective it is. (Viewsonic advertises 87%, Acer 80%, Asus 70%, Benq also 70% blue light filtering)
