Msi Tomahawk B350 mobo

**no issues with the computer anymore i just want an explanation**

I have not done any modifications for this system for about 2 months.
I was just gaming and the computer crashed mid game for a memory error and CPU and CMOS lights were lit on the mobo.

I tried booting the system with both RAM sticks on the suggested DIMM A+B 2 slots and it would not boot.
I tried with both sticks seperately and would not boot.
Then i tried with both sticks on DIMM 1 and it works just fine. Then i tried one stick on DIMM 1 and one on DIMM 2 and it booted normally with both sticks ahowing up. Then i put both sticks back on DIMM 2 and it works just normally like it did.

Remind i cleared the CMOS multiple times and switched the sticks on the DIMM 2 slots multiple times without success.

Please can someone explain what happened?

Solution

Reading that does it seem like the ram is running single channel. Try A2+B2 for dualchannel. Also do you have the latest bios since not done anything to the pc for about 2 months? A bios update might prevent the problem you had.

I know you say you have no problem anymore, but that doesn't mean things cannot be improved.

Sorry for mis information, I was running them on A+B 2, I corrected the text.
