Hi everyone,
I just started having this strange problem with my 1080. I'll be playing a game and the fans will come on at 60C as expected, but then the fans will turn off out of no where. And of course the temperature keeps rising. It got to 90C before I noticed it was happening. I reinstalled the gpu and all of the drivers but I still had the same issue. Any idea what is going on?

EDIT: I uninstalled GPU Tweak and installed MSI AfterBurner. I had the same issue. You can see that its telling the fans to spin (fan speed, %), but they stop spinning after a little while (fan tachometer, rpm). Screen shot of MSI afterburner. https://imgur.com/yJQpo52 The fans turned back on 15ish minutes later...
EDIT 2: I set the fan speed to be at 50% at all temperatures. It stayed at 50% until I started a game. about 1 minute in the Fan RPMs drop to 0. https://imgur.com/CEdjwAA
