Im switching from the ASROCK H97 PRO 4 (a couple years old) with the i5 4590 cpu TO A i5 7th gen and a 27 series GIGTABITE motherboard. It should be fine if I just attach everything to the new MB right? I know theres some smart asses on this forum who are gonna tell me im stupid for asking or even trying this, i dont know, but this was my go-to website when I first built my PC 2 years ago and now im upgrading 2 of the main components of the PC so I would love some in depth knowledge about this.

I'm also adding a GTX 1060 if that makes a difference (which I know it doesnt)

Thanks, people

Imho the performance increase you will see is not worth the price of the upgrade, especially considering the current price of ram.
