Gigabyte GTX970 Gaming G1 power usage

Not sure what's going on... help

Running Gigabyte GTX970 Gaming G1, rm550x psu, with FX8350 and 78lmt mobo.

When testing games, HWinfo and MSI show 140-150w GPU power, but when bench in Furmark or Firestrike usage goes to 105% of tdp at 260w or 80%tdp 200w ...? The stated TDP is 148w.... confused

That exact model is a highly overclocked 970, very close to the limit. Some self-protection measures of the card will kick in when doing high-load things as furmark or firestrike.
If otherwise your machine does not show any strange behaviour, i would not care too much.

Thanks, yes more games tested, never reaches these levels during normal use.

I have the exact same gpu and i only have 500 watt psu when i should be using a 550 one. I haven't crossed any issues so far atm. I tried increasing memory speed and what not but it froze and turned on and off a few times.
