Os comparisons windows 8/8.1/7/10

Hi guys, I am so puzzled my compaq pc needs a windows update because the windows 7 version I have is old. But what os should I upgrade to?, windows 8.1 is so bad in compatibilitly with antivirus and drivers, or should I upgrade to a Windows 8 or 10? Or should I keep windows 7 but updated?

First we need your systems specs to determine what to do.

If there will be compatibility issues it's either 7 or 8.1. Otherwise 10 all the way.

Windows 7 will get security updates until 2022.
It will not get functional updates.
For most users, that is not a problem.

If you are happy with the function of windows 7, do not try to ugrade to windows 10 without looking at the pros and con's of windows 10.

If you want to upgrade you definitely want to skip 8.1 and go straight to 10.

If the PC came with Windows 7 I would honestly leave it unless you really want 10. Upgrading to 10 may result in compatibility problems. I recommend using the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor to determine what will work and what will not in your PC with Windows 10.

Windows 7 still has decent driver and software support and important Windows updates. Windows 7 only is an issue when trying to run it on newer hardware.
