Have a 2500S build I'm starting soon, and I know the 2500 can do max 1333 MHz. Waiting for the RAM to arrive in the mail atm, So if I have some 1600 MHz RAM lying around can I use it in the build or will it not boot?
Thanks

The board will take care of that. In the usual boards you use a 2600S in (i own one, CPU and board) you have to explicitely set 1600, so it will usually and most likely be set to 1333 anyways at the start.

You can use it, basically.
If you fail at it, it may be incompatible with your board, but that would relate to that specific type, not the speed itself.
Depending on RAM and board, you might not get it to run stable at 1600, but i.e. at 1333 - but the difference would be miniscule anyways.

So will the RAM automatically underclock itself?
