I have read through and done as much of your breadboard tutorial as possible.

Had a Msi 760gma-p34fx mobo.
With fx4300 and 8g ram.(gaming fine)
Upgraded cpu to fx8350 with cooler.
Was gaming fine for a few months and then pc restarted to black screen but no post and no signal on monitor(all fans running).
I let it cool down (thinking that was the problem) and rebooted fine, so carried on gaming. A few days later
The same thing happened but i can't get it to post now.
I removed ram and get a ram beep code.
Replace ram and no post.
Tried different gpu but no change.

I bought a new mobo asus m5a78l-m plus. And another 8g ram.

I now have only psu, ram (old and new in different slots on both boards in different combinations), cpu and cooler in my breadboard asus mobo.
Still no post, remove ram and I get a ram beep code.

I've removed battery from both mobo and done cmos jumpers.

I bought a small psu tester on eBay so I think my psu is fine.
I also have an older psu that I tried and same problem.

Is my new fx8350 cpu scrap?

Solution
the thing is that FX8350 has a 125w TDP by default. and both of those MBs are kinda very basics when it comes to power delivery to the CPU.
From what you described, it seems very probable that the VRM was overheating -> shutting down.
a faulty VRM can kill the CPU.
So I'd suggest to sell all your parts and get some ryzen or i3-8100 based sytem - will do much better than any FX CPU.
