Hi, for some reason I'm having a huge block on how to do this efficiently and not rename them file by file.

I have two file sequences (still frames from a video) in their respective folders, with both sequences going from 0000-0479, I want to combine and rename them into one 960 frame sequence that alternates between the two soures. For example:

Old Name -> New Name
border01_0000 -> combined_0000
border02_0000 -> combined_0001
border01_0001 -> combined_0002
border02_0001 -> combined_0003
border01_0002 -> combined_0004
border02_0002 -> combined_0005

I'm running windows 7 if that counts and will be importing the sequence into After Effects if that helps any

I know I need a bulk/batch renaming tool, but i've been flailing around for the last hour trying to figure it out and I know there must be a relatively simple way, its just math right?

Thanks in Advance!

Solution
Do border01 files as bulk, but increment by two starting with 0. Then do border02 files starting at 1 incrementing by two. You just need a tool that lets you change the increment number.

[strike]Thank you for the answer! But I don't think that would work, the amount you have to increment border01 by increases by one each alternation. Border01_0001 changes to 0002 but border01_0002 changes to 0004[/strike]

crap, I just got what you meant,
Many Thanks!
Can you recomend me a program that would do this? I'm learning Bulk Rename Utility but its a little overkill for the situation
