CPU upgrade for my board but worried about overheating stories for the 3770K

Hello,

I currently have an Asus Z77 board with a 2500K clocked to 4.6. I wanted to squeeze maybe another year or so out of it before upgrading completely and had decided on getting the i7 3770K but I have since read some bad reviews on the 3770K not overclocking well and badly overheating when you raise the voltage. Also my friend just advised me to get the 2700K over the 3770K for these reasons.

So what is the deal with the 3770K will it run hot and throttle when overclocked? Would I be better off with the 2700K as I want to overclock and I don't really want to spend anything extra on cooling. I currently have the Hyper evo 212 cooler which was fine for the 2500K.

I upgraded my 2500K to the 3770K about 6 months ago. I too use the Evo 212, and it is a nice upgrade. Plus, I can finally run my Trident RAM at 2400MHz. I have no problems keeping it cool. I run mine at 4.5GHz with no problem.
