(First, Yes I know there are other threads about this, but I checked and none of them helped)

My PC turns off the instant I turn it on. The fans all spin up and stop spinning up immediately. I just bought the MOBO, RAM and CPU from micro center yesterday.

I’ve tried:

- Removing all components but CPU from MOBO
- re-plugged the ATX power connectors multiple times.
- removed CMOS battery and plugged it back in.
- tried with and without RAM, with and without GPU
- also have pulled it all out of the case. It is currently sitting on the cardboard box it came in.

The GPU is pretty new and worked with my old build (700W)

Specs:

-Intel core i7 7700k
-Asus ROG strix z370-g MOBO
-Valens 80+ gold 700w PSU
-HyperX DDR4 2400 2x8 GB RAM
-Sapphire r9 270x (don’t make fun, this is the last remnant of my old build haha )

This is driving me crazy. If you could figure it out, you would be my favorite person.

That CPU doesn't work on that board. You need a z2xx board, not a z3xx board. There is no way to make that work. Same socket, but Intel doesn't allow it.

Edit: Yay! I'm someone's favorite person! Wish I had better news for you.

It should be noted in the CPU support list. According to some manufacturers there should be a way to enable support in the bios, but Intel doesn't allow it. If you want to use the 8 series, it HAS to be with the 3xx boards. I and others suspected this issue will happen and I'm not surprised people/you saw the socket being the same and thought it would work. Bad move on Intel's part if you ask me.
