Recently I had a very old motherboard go out on me and it was old enough that purchasing a replacement board just didn't make sense and I decided to purchase a new system. I have purchased the following
Intel i7 8700K
Asrocks Z370 Extreme4
G. Skill DDR4 Ripjaws V Series 2800
When I assembled the system it would not post. After doing some looking around I discovered an issue with my system posting when the memory is in some of the slots.
My MB has 4 memory slots A1, A2, B1, B2.
Currently I have two sticks of memory, 8GB each. I can put a either stick in B1 or B2 and the system see's it's 8 GB. If I put a stick in B1 and B2 it see's 16GB. If I put anything in either A1 or A2 then the system will not post. Asrocks recomends for for dual channel and using two sticks to use A2 and B2 and if I do that it will not post.
My thinking is this motherboard is not working on A1 and A2 and I will eschange it (Amazon). Does anyone else have any suggestions?
