Here's my questions. I'm building a new Ryzen 5 gaming computer. Now for my primary storage, i want to use a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD for OS and Steam. This SSD was previously used on an old build. However,
I previously transferred the data on it to a new 500GB SSD using Samsung Magician. Will the drive be reformatted for a fresh install of windows 10 or do I have to do a complete wipe. I really need some advise. Thanks

Solution
No need to wipe the old drive, just do a quck format on it and then give it 30 minutes or so for trim and garbage collection to clear the cells.

Format it.
If this was previously the OS drive, go into Disk Management and delete all the partitions, including the original boot partition.

But...why are you wanting to use the older 840 EVO for the OS, instead of the newer (which one?) 500GB SSD?
