I have an Acer H61H2-AD mono and the online specs say lga1155 but on the socket cover it says 1150. I've tried both types of CPUs but neither work. My current CPU is a Intel celeron g460 and on Intel's site it says that CPU is lga1155

That is odd. H61 corresponds to a LGA1155 socket, I know this because I have several H61 motherboards attached to several Xeon E3-1200 series CPUs - all of which are definitely LGA1155 and they work just fine in them.

The CPU does only go in one way - you have to get the gold arrow on the CPU pointing towards the arrow on the metal case cover. Here's a picture - bottom left - the arrow stamped into the steel.
