Where Is the FCC ID on My EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 760!?!

Hello Tom's Hardware members.

Today, I am trying the FCC ID on my EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 graphics card, but after trying to search every number that I can see through my PC case's see-through panel on this website ( https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid ), I am nowhere closer to my goal, because every time the search came up with nothing.

So, my question is this: Where is the freakin' FCC ID located on the card!?!

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Solution

There was a case here earlier today....person was wondering why his FPS was so low, with a seemingly good GPU.
He had the cable plugged into the motherboard instead of the GPU.
It happens.

Well, I just bought this very nice and very expensive Dell S2417DG G-Sync Monitor, and I have been trying to get the DisplayPort connection to work, but alas, to no avail.

It has been suggested that by flashing a newer BIOS onto a graphics card might resolve such an issue. Therefore I am trying to find out who made the card, and if I am able to if they have a newer BIOS I can try out.

The FCC ID has nothing to do with that.
Any of a number of windows applications will tell you who made the GPU.
That's who you get a newer BIOS from, if available.

Speccy, HWInfo, etc.

Also, to actually see the FCC ID label, you open up the case, instead of just peering through the glass side panel.

You said yourself it's an EVGA GTX 760. Seems you already know who made the card.

Okay, not trying to sound mean, but to reiterate: Where on the card is it?

Also, another question. Both HWIiFO64 and GPU-Z tell me that EVGA made it, so I tried to find an official page from EVGA that hosts all of the BIOSes for the card, and yet the only sites that come up that offer such are websites like TechPowerup. So, does EVGA have an official channel for distributing copies of BIOSes for their cards, or do I have to look at 3rd party sources for such files?

Update: read your post TJ Hooker after initially posting this, well, post. So, am I correct in saying that EVGA manufactured the card themselves?

(if there were a newer BIOS, it would be listed there)

The FCC ID label would probably be a little tiny sticker, on the PCB somewhere. Maybe under the plastic shroud.
But that label has nothing to do with what you seek.

That's the website I originally looked at, but, as you can see, there are no BIOS versions to be shown. :(

In regards to the stickers, would something like this:

... or this

count?

1. If there is no newer BIOS listed, then there was no newer BIOS created.

2. From those extremely fuzzy pics, no information can be discovered.
But again, the FCC ID has nothing to do with what you're wanting to do.

Who told you there was a newer BIOS for this specific GPU?
What is the error you get trying to use the DisplayPort?

1. No one. But that is why I wanted to find out via the FCC ID who made the card, and then find out if they had a new BIOS for the card at all.
2. No signal. Nadda. Nothing. Not during the BIOS screens or even in Windows.

1. EVGA made the GPU.
Since the people who made it (EVGA) does not list another BIOS for it, then a newer BIOS was never created for it.

2. Do you have the monitor set to auto-discover?
Have you tried another cable?

1. There is no auto-discover mode on this monitor. I have to manually change the display input (whether that be HDMI or DisplayPort). Oh, BTW, the HDMI input works just fine (that is what I am using now).

2. The DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor is all I have, so no, I have not tried another cable.

    ■ That would be some seriously bad luck.
    ■ No. I did not even know that was a thing. Let me get back to you on that.
    ■ Yes. It is a stupid question, but I understand that sometimes stupid things are allowed to occur, even to the best of us. :)

It happens.
It happened. To me. :)

So I went ahead and did the monitor self-test, with flying colors. I then go, "Well, why don't I check the DisplayPort itself on the GPU." I swing my PC around and look at the pins and clips and contacts of the DP, all looks good. Then I'm like, "Well, how about I watch as I try to insert the DP cable", and BAM!, problem found!

The cable would not go in all the way, and had some trouble going in to begin with, because the DP was partially covered by part of the PC case due to the placement of the card in the case. Here is a picture of what it looked like:
AG5ENnZ.jpg

It is really hard to tell, but can you not see the upper part of the port? It is the farthest one to the upper-right. It was being blocked by the case.

So, I opened up the case, loosed the screws up to let the GPU sag, re-tightened the screws and, BAM!, we have DP video signals from the GPU being displayed on the monitor! Yay!

Thank you again USAFRnet for helping me out by "helping me help myself". :p :)

I can now enjoy the superb graphical fidelity and performance that DP has to offer on this card (plus, I don't know, the G-Sync and superbly high refresh rate of this monitor; you know, those little, little benefits that you get with a $400 Dell gaming monitor :)).

Now that the original purpose of this thread has been resolved, I do not care about finding the FCC ID on the GPU, and will consider this thread solved. However, I wouldn't mind if someone were to post their own answers to this thread, even after a "solution" has been declared.

Again, thanks!
