So, here's the issue. Basically I just got a brand new PC and built it myself back in January. Its great. Specs below.

1080 Ti
Ausus Strix ROG 370e Motherboard or Maybe 270
i7 8700k
16 GB Ram DDR4
850 Watt Corsair Power Supply

So this is the problem. In games recently like Fornite and Black Desert. Somewhat League of Legends but not too much. I've been getting random frame freezes and frame drops that only last a short second or two but when I'm fighting in fornite it will hinder me from killing someone else. And basically i've tried everything as far as hardware and CPU and Graphics go. Ive overclcoked both my GPU and CPU and then set them back to default. Turned off V Sync, Anti A, and so many other in game and out of game setting for graphics. Now however this is where Im stuck. I can play Star Wars Battlefront 2 with absolutely so frame lag and no problem, but they have dedicated servers. So I was thinking it might be because the game doesnt have dedicated serves? Anything helps and Im willing to answer any questions but I have no idea what else to do. Thanks in advance for the help. Also all my cores in my CPU are active. As well I have an SSD and a HDD but I tried putting fornite on my SSD and that didn't do much.

i7 and a 1080 ... unless you have some driver or setting issue you shouldn't get lag from that (nice setup, btw). Lag from the internet is possible. Doing a quick look, I don't see that there are ingame ping meters with those games, but you can monitor latency through your resource monitor. This page describes how:

If you happen to have a 2nd monitor, that would make it easier to watch. Let us know what you find out.

Yeah, I have 2 monitors. The thing is I have an SSD and HDD and I figured the HDD might be the problem. But I have a beast of a setup and was fortunate enough to build it myself. However there are just so many things that could go wrong and I’ve done a lot of research. I was thinking its the deal with games that do not have dedicated servers. Like Battlefront 2 runs smooth as butter with no lag. But thats a triple A title with dedicated servers. Other than that, single player games, run so well. Like just cause 3. So I dont know I just figured I’d ask, and do some troubleshooting. I want the best out of a 2k computer.

Your correct that HDD are much slower than SSDs and if a game was needing to access large amounts of data during game play you could see lag. But, for the better games at least, they are careful to load the bulk of data (maps, textures, etc) before you enter a zone. Having an SSD can make switching zones faster, which is nice, but not a big deal during game play. Using the resource monitor you can also watch your hard drive activity, but I doubt you will see a correlation between lag and HDD spikes (unless something in the background suddenly want a ton of resources ... antivirus scan for example, but again, the better antivirus programs avoid scanning when they see your busy).

I think your spot on about the dedicated servers. I suspect those games (I have never played them) use servers and routers that are sometimes overloaded which could lead to lag. Sure, they could buy faster equipment, but they are in business to make money so they provide a service that is good enough.

Just got home, tested it some more. Black desert seems to be fine. I pulled up some graphs to see if my CPU was stable in game for Black Desert. Though I have no clue what it might be. I put fornite on my SSD and that seemed to do the trick. Dont necessarily know what else to test though. I just want to know if somethings wrong because I have warranties on all my parts. Though I doubt its my computer because fortnite was running perfect until it came out with a new update recently.

The best way to ensure your hardware is ok is to stress test it. So keep playing. Some people like to do burn-in by running something like Prime95, but I think that is overkill. In my experience issues tend to pop up in the first 2 months or 5 years later.

I don't know where you live, but here some internet related stuff will start to slow down between 6pm and 10pm as these are some of the heaviest use times. If you see lag at these times, but not others, it is most likely related to congestion.

Yes true. I'm here in Jacksonville, Florida. It's a big area here. Though I have xfinity (in my opinion is a shit internet provider) and I'm connected to their Atlanta servers. So maybe so. Though when I first got my computer i stress tested my CPU and GPU and overclocked some. Used prime95 as well. Though I think Im just gonna keep some graphs up while gaming to monitor. What should I look for do you think? Spikes in GPU or CPU or ping or what?

Yes true, what would be the best way to screenshot and share with you, I got some data on League Of Legends that is interesting. My GPU usage would just go to 0 and my FPS would as well. Wonder why...

Im back with more problems :D

So I've been monitoring everything. Still getting weird frame drops in league and fortnite, it seems to be less of a problem when i close my windows in google chrome.

I have a picture of it being monitored, any way I can send it to you or soemthing, cant seem to find how on here.

Limit your max framerate in the games that are giving you trouble. If you're just trying for max framerate, you can overwhelm your system, even the best systems when they max out, the only thing they can do is stutter so that the system can catch up. It's one of the reason there are frame rate caps on a lot of games. People blame it on poor porting of unoptimized code, but there are legitimate reasons as well. Give it a try and report back.

So I dont know if I mentioned this but I have a 144hz monitor, my framerate is capped at 144 on every single game I play. Was talking to another guy and he thought that it was poor coding or soemthing from fortnite which is what Im having trouble on, where as a game like battlefront 2, runs smoothly, max settings, solid 80 fps. Here are some pictures of the random frame drops in fortnite, along with CPU usage and GPU usage.
