Hi,

my friend had a seagate hard drive, previously, used as dvr hard drive for CCTV. he did'not know how to format it so he gave me that drive to format. I also didn't know that hard drive is being used for CCTV DVR so I formated it using pc with format type exfat.

now DVR is not detecting that hard drive?

which format type and allocation size i should use to format that drive so that i can be detected in CCTV DVR.
Please help

Your first mistake was formatting the drive before determining the existing format. ExFat works for many things so it was a good choice but it would be unusual for a DVR.

You will need the model number and brand of the DVR to determine the correct format.

Some DVRs allow you to format on the DVR or at least over write the old data, in which case you may need to unformat the drive and do it on the DVR -- depending on the model. Some also use a proprietary format.
