Flash drive saves files not in folders, but deletes everything else except folders.

I have a 128 GB flash drive. I have used this flash drive for two years without any problem.

However, yesterday (2/26/2018) I noticed that my flash drive had not saved my text files. Thinking that this was probably due to me maybe not ejecting the drive properly (although I safely eject every time) I didn't really think too much about it.

Then it happened again. Thinking I might have deleted it I used an undelete tool. I found my missing files. However, the files had NOTHING inside. They were 100% blank. Part of my Robotics project also disappeared and the due date is coming up soon.

The only thing that remained was the new folders I made, though empty, and files outside the folders. However, I need the files inside the folders because of the assets folders requiring all models inside the folder, and it's just disorganized in general.

Please help me.

If you used the undelete utility and the files were blank, you can't do anything else. Do not keep single copies of files, especially on a flash drive. An external drive should be used for backups or for moving files between systems, not for an only place you keep your files. Test the drive with some other files and see how that works.

If you need to use the drive because your computer drive is too full, get a second, one for storage, one for backups of the first drive.
