Hello I need some help finding a suitable cpu for me. I will be gaming at 1440p 144hz and with a next gen mid ranged gpu (planning to buy 16gb ddr4 3000mhz ram). During gaming i would be multitasking at the same time with at least 15+ tabs of chrome open, which would be a mixture of highest quality youtube videos, twitch streams, and browsing/social media. I would also be running applications during gaming such as nvidia shadowplay, Google play music, skype/discord, and some other programs. I currently have a ryzen 5 1400 and the cpu usage is very high at 80+% always and very low fps/fps drops which is quite sad and frustrating :(. Which cpu would be best and most suitable for my needs? Ty :).

Got it.
For now, either of those isn't enough to run 1440p 144hz. No idea about the 2060, or whatever it'll be, as specs aren't available.

After rereading your initial post, I'll make a slight change and say either the Ryzen 1700(cheapest), or 8700(k, or non-k).
Your 1400 is the weak link, as your activities are maxing out all the cores/threads on it. Multi-threaded cpus such as the above should improve things. The multiple tabs is a ram thing though, but 16gb will cover that.

The CHEAPEST option would be Ryzen 1600... 1700 might not be that much more of an improvement. Anyway, reason being is that they're on the same socket - AM4. The expensive option would be a brand new Intel 8th gen setup with an 8600k. It would yield higher average fps than the Ryzen, but it wouldn't be worth the cost - thus, the expensive option.

Now, what do YOU consider a mid range gpu? If you're going to be running at 1440p 144hz, I wouldn't go lower than 1070ti level. You need a high-end to run high refresh at that resolution.
