Upgraded to i7 7700k from g4560 and it ran for 1 day.
Next day several 0x000(r) referenced memory could not be read errors occurred. Applications would insta-crash when opened.
Updated drivers. Ran sfc /scannow and restore health, all was good.
Ran memcheck, after restarting, failed to boot...everytime. No post, just lights and fans.
Reset Cmos;nothing. Used g4560 to download and install bios update just fine. (no problems booting or running with g4560).
Still no post.
Ram fine, psu fine according to bios.
Sometimes posts, but freezes before bios screen.

Event log riddled with:

i7 came used from highly rated ebay supplier, with a bit of thermal paste on some nodes.

My thoughts are either faulty i7, psu too weak for 91watt cpu, or critical driver interference, even though it ran fine for a day.

Any suggestions before I send i7 back? Have g4560 in right now business as usual. Would prefer not to have to send i7 back and have 2 week downtime before getting a new one.

Step 1 unplug power and all devices from the PC.
Step 2 wait about 30 seconds
Step 3 remove the cmos battery.
Step 4 Install the 7700K
Step 4.5 Reinsert the CMOS battery
Step 5 remove all but 1 stick of RAM
Step 6 plug in and power on the PC
Step 7 check for errors

If you get through step 7 fine then go to step 8 if not go to troubleshooting steps below.

Step 8 power down system and remove all cables.
Step 9 wait about 30 seconds
Step 10 put all RAM back in the system
Step 11 check for errors

If no errors you're good to go. If you have errors then you have memory issues.

Troubleshooting step 1 check for any visual defects on the CPU.
Troubleshooting step 2 look for bent pins on the motherboard
Troubleshooting step 3 Re-seat RAM
Troubleshooting step 4 Try with 1 stick at a time of RAM
Troubleshooting step 5 Try the 7700K in a different motherboard (If possible)

If you go through all these steps and the problem persists then it's very likely that the CPU is bad.

Ill try removing the battery tomorrow. I have already re-seated ram into different channels. I dont get why something would have changed from day to day and why other cpu works fine without any setting changes.

With 1 good ram in, and cmos reset, still no luck. Sometimes it lets me into bios, but only for a few secs before freezing. In those few seconds, the voltages all seem fine, but the CPU is registered at 4.4 ghz. Any last advice before sending the CPU back across the country?
