Hello,

I've had some problems with 1 of my hdd on my system recently. When i go to play gta v or doom or any other game which is hard disk intensive in task manager it shows in disk 50% usage when a task name System is taking like 0.1mb/s to 0.5mb/s and the game is taking 0mb/s cause the hdd is already at its full capacity according to task manager. I tried a couple of things i remove the hdd cleaned it changed its sata port change the sata cable nothing seems to work sometimes the hdd feeds data to game and the game works fine but between 15min to an hour or 2 the game freezes and crashes and the hdd light doesnt even turn on so is my hdd dying or its some software issue i ran disk checkup it says everything is fine and crystal disk is also saying that the hdd condition is good idk what to do anymore pls help.

What RPM do u have on ur drive?
Low RPM harddrives tend to be very slow and can cause wierd lag.
How old is the drive?
Is your computer overheating when playing?

It could be dying. But i doubt that because there are other signs that shows whether its dying or not and those are not the signs.try defragmenting.and if you think its dying try formating the hdd or install windows again.

no not overheating the drive is 5900rpm its like 2 to 3 months old

EBay... sigh. I've seen so many issues dealing with them including many fake drives or selling products with known issues.

I'd say it's almost certainly an issue with the HDD. It's not very expensive to replace it cheaply with a much higher capacity than 320GB.

You also have full capacity anyway? So get a bigger drive regardless.

There should be little to no WRITING so having the drive full should not cause any major issues, nor should it be that ridiculously slow for any reason aside from failure of the drive or the SATA connection (which you troubleshooted).

So IMO it's a bad drive.

This 2TB, 7200RPM, 3.5" Hitachi is only $60USD:

yea i hear u i also think that the hard drive is at fault here but the problem is i dont live in US otherwise a 60$ hdd is not a big deal secondly this is just out of curiosity why does it work sometimes and sometimes it doesnt do anything like i tested it with hd pro first time it crashed the explorer and the second time it worked sort of why is that though? And as for getting a new hdd i looked at amazon of my country and the rating r not great to say the least so i dont know where to buy a trusty a new hard drive lol maybe i will go on a local shop idk

In HDtune screenshot I wanted to see Health section (not benchmark).
Also in Resource Monitor screenshot - can you remake it with disk activity section ordered by column Total (descending)?
(the screenshot is rather blurry btw)
It looks like Hdtune benchmark is causing most of HDD utilization there.

Ok this is the hd tune health section and its saying warning at bottom so i dont suppose thats good and as for the resource monitor descending i cant understand what you are trying to ask sry.

The drive has overheated in the past. You have to improve cooling inside your pc enclosure.
There are 2 pending sectors. Drive can't read those 2 sectors. Not good, but not critical either.
And CRC errors - those could be related to overheating or bad sata cables.

You press on column name "Total (B/sec)" and the list will be ordered by that column. Try to order it, so higher values are at top, lower values at bottom (Disk Activity section - 2nd one).
