Just wondering if any of you has had the same issue when getting the B350M Mortar running as I currently do. I came from "the ASRock" and Intel league and never really had problems, now having the first strong issue with MSI & AMD which is a bit suspect to me, guessing this was a very bad buy: MSI B350M Mortar, a new Ryzen 3 2200G, a pair of G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4-3200 and a WD Green 240 GB M.2 SSD.
The system worked flawless from the beginning as I have ordered an additional firmware upgrade offered by the seller in order to run the new Ryzen 3 2200G CPU. It could have been that the old firmware version already present on the board wouldn't recognize the new CPU correctly, that's the only 'modification' to the system. PSU is a 850W model by PowerColor, should be sufficient. ;o) Display is 4K, connected via DP.
When it comes to installing drivers, the show begins. I have downloaded the latest drivers from AMD, that's the current version chipset file amd-chipset-drivers_18.10_feb.exe and the 'graphics card' driver rv-win10-64bit-whql-radeon-software-17.40.3701-feb12.exe.
The last one doesn't work properly, everytime the Installation process begins, the resolution is being pulled up to something above FHD, the characters look much sharper, then the fans turn up and the display gets dark. The System hangs an cannot be brought back to life using Ctrl+Alt+Del. A forced ATX shutdown is the only help.
I've also tried the MSI drivers first, it's the same issue with them. Also tried DVI and HDMI connectors with no positive effect. Fans turn-up, display blacked-out...
I wonder if you guys are having the same issue, maybe running the B350M Mortar with the same type of CPU. What are your experiences?
I'd appreciate any helpful hints on this or suggestions what else could be worth to be checked.
