So as the title says I have bought new RAM, but my pc won't recognize it. Not sure if my PC can accept this RAM, and if it can what else can I do for my pc to recognize it?

Here is the RAM I updated with - SAMSUNG M393B5170EH1-CH9-4GB-DDR3-PC10600- 240P DIMM

Here is my current RAM - Samsung Original 2GB DDR3 1333 256Mx64 CL9

What have I done you ask?

Checked to make sure my PC can accept new RAM, Im currently at 8GB bought 16GB
According to Intel my PC can accept 32GB (https://ark.intel.com/products/52207/Intel-Core-i5-2400-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz)
Updated my BIOS to A06 (highest I can get)
Went into my MSCONFIG BOOT settings and tried to changed the Max Memory, the box was already unchecked.

So can my PC accept this new RAM?

And if so, what else can I do?

Solution
1. you have a Dell XPS 8300
2. The ram that runs on that system is listed to be DRR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC (DDR3-1333MHZ)
3. The ram you bought is SAMSUNG PART# M393B5170EH1-CH9 PC3-10600R DDR3 1333 4GB ECC REG 2RX4
FOR SERVER ONLY - NOT FOR DESKTOP
the bold part is the issue with the ram you bought... it uses ECC and your System uses NON ECC, sorry you got the wrong ram.
4. though Dell states it will only upgrade to 16GB a great many people have posted on the dell support web site a kit of ram will run 32GB on your xps8300.
