Would the Cryorig H5 Universal be enough for an i5-8600k? If yes, how further can I push it in overclock?

The title says it all basically. I bought an i5-8600k and I'm now looking for an air cooler that would keep my CPU cool with some overclock. I don't want to push it to 5 Ghz because I don't think I will ever need to. I'd like to push it to 4.5~4.7Ghz. What cooler should I get?

Solution
is definitely enough but be warned the fan is not very good, mine sounded like a moped engine, so I brought a noctua fan which cost a whopping £20, for that extra £20 I could have brought a noctua DH15 cooler.

Someone on youtube had the same issue, his replacement fan from cyrorig was also duff, so seems to be an issue with their fans.

Thank you for replying. Like I said, I certainly won't need 5Ghz but would I be able to push it that further or I would need another cooler? Say for testing purposes or if I need to complete a very cpu-intensive task :)

Well ofcourse a better cooler will help, like if u can afford a kraken x62 or a A40ultimate, that will certainly help.
is that extra boost noticeable? Not thaaaaaat much you can check the benchmarks yourself between the Mhz differences.

Also a good motherboard with big vrms and a stable powersupply will help out alot !

Nope, I'm sorry. Those are way beyond my budget :D

My main concern is keep the CPU in a healthy temperature and overclock it without frying everything hahaha
I'm not really obsessed with keeping temperatures absolutely as low as possible

Are you talking about the R1 Ultimate or Universal? On Amazon Italy the R1 Universal is now (it's on sale) a couple of Euros cheaper than the H5 Ultimate.

Which one is better?

I would honestly go for the R1 Universal for mainly two reasons:

  • ■It's smaller and seems to fit in most cases. I've heard about some people who can't use their RAM in dual channel because the cooler is making it impossibile to use the slot located closer to the CPU
■I don't like the R1 Ultimate's colour hahaha. My build is coming up black and white (kinda) so the Universal would look better I think :D
