If one of drives in RAID 1 fails

Currenty I have 2 4TB drives which we will name it (drive 1) and (drive 2)
And let's say one of those drives have failed

So if the (drive 1) fails for example
Then I have to replace it with another drive with the same capacity

Are the files from the (drive 2) will be automatically mirrored again on the (drive 1) after I replaced it with another drive?

Solution
Yes, you would have to replace the drive with an equivalent drive. It is recommended to replace with the same exact drive/model/etc. Depending on the RAID software/controller setup, it may rebuild automatically or you may have to go into the RAID controller and initiate a rebuild to correct the degraded RAID array. Also, keep an eye on drive 1 after the rebuild as sometimes performing the rebuild will overwork the drive that its rebuilding from.

Assuming the rebuild works correctly, then yes. Removing the failed drive, replacing it and initiating a rebuild will mirror all the files from drive 2 onto the new drive.

But RAID1 is not a substitute for backups. RAID will not protect from a deleted file or a corrupted file system. Just the disk failure you mention. There are LOTS of ways to lose data that don't involve a disk failure.
