I just finished my first computer build. When I press the power button, the fans come on but the Cpu and Dram lights on the motherboard come on with 7 beeps. I have removed the cpu to check the pins and moved the ram stick into other sockets and the computer still doesn’t boot. I have also removed the gpu and cleared cmos but the result is still the same. This is my very first build so I am not sure what is going on. PLEASE HELP!!

what is your psu old or new also did you try only 1 ram stick in a 2 slot .

Everything is new and I tried using one stick only but it still doesn’t work.

did you plug in the 8 pins atx on the motherboard and give name and model of psu i would recheck all wiring and did you put standoff under the board .

My psu is a Evga 600b. I have done everything you have listed above but it still beeps 7 times and would not post.

I have also read somewhere else that 7 beeps means the cpu OR the mobo could be faulty. Should I replace the cpu or the mobo? Also, should I also use other ram since the dram light is also on?

if you check the link 7 beep bad cpu so you might need to rma it .

rma the cpu first since it will cost $$ to send it back so if you have budget you could do both but i would try to see if someone could test board with another cpu before rma .
