Built New PC, Monitor goes into Power Saving Mode

So I just built a PC with the following specs;
- AMD Athlon x4 860k CPU
- Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2 Motherboard
- HyperX Fury DDR3 8GB RAM
- EVGA 400W Power Supply
- GeForce MSI GTX 1050 GPU
- 1TB Hard Drive

Every time I boot up my PC, the fans start spinning, lights turn on, everything inside is running nicely. But when I hook up to my monitor (using a VGA) it automatically enters power saving mode.

I've tried cleaning the RAM, correcting the wires, taking out the GPU, switching the VGA cable around, taking out the motherboard battery and putting it back in. Almost everything every thread has told me to do, and I'm kind of losing hope.

Can anyone help?

I went and bought a DVI to HDMI adapter (since my monitor doesnt have HDMI port) and plugged the DVI into the monitor, and the HDMI into the graphics card. Still in power saving mode. Does it HAVE to be a solid DVI cable? If not, is there anything else I could do?
