My custom built pc won’t connect to monitor

I recently just built a pc and first time booting it up. I connected it to my monitor but their was no signal.
Can someone help with reasons why and how to fix it. Components are:

Nividia gtx 1080 founders edition
Asus maximum IX hero
HyperX FURY DDR4 32 gb ram
Corsair HX1000i
Deepcool genome case
Intel core i7 7700k
Thermaltake 120mm fake
samsung evo 850 1tb
Can someone please help...

for whatever reason, when i built my first rig 3 years ago, i was advised to un-install audio/video drivers and re-intall. Did it twice, and still no display on the monitor. 3rd time i didn't bother un-installing, just re-installed and this time the drivers registered
