xeon x3440 or i5 3300

I was wondering which one I should use, and which one would give better performance.
Xeon 2.53 ghz 4 cores 8 threads
i5 3300 3 ghz 4 cores 4 threads

.5 ghz or 4 more threads?

What are you using the system for? If this is for gaming, I would take the 3300. For a workstation task, it is a little closer as the extra thread would be nice, but I would still probably get the 3300. You may have trouble finding a board for the x3440 and it is almost 10 years old. While there is only a 500mhz clock difference, the IPC and efficiency is much better on the 3300.

Yes for gaming, I own both computers with 8gb of ram in both with a gtx 650 ti boost.
