I've just moved into a new house and we've got a few ethernet ports hanging around that I've been unable to find a hub for, or any sign of where they terminate.

There are one set of two in a study at the front of the house (they look to be on the opposite side of the wall to where the DSL line comes in), and another pair in a room upstairs towards the back of the house.

We've got two DSL lines, one downstairs in the kitchen (which is just a conventional socket) and another in the main bedroom where it needs a three pronged adaptor to connect.

How could I go about finding where these ethernet ports terminate? Is there any way to get them online?

Start by looking in the easy spots: outdoor termination box or inside wiring panel are typical places. An inside wiring panel may be behind a small outlet-sized cover or a larger structured-wiring panel in a closet or other less than obvious location. You might also need to look in the attic or basement.

It's possible that the two pairs of ports connect directly to each other. Assuming the ports are wired...

It's possible that the two pairs of ports connect directly to each other. Assuming the ports are wired correctly, you could try plugging a router on one end and a PC on the other and check for indications of a connection (port lights on router/PC). You may need to look behind the wall port to see if the ports are wired properly.
