Hello,

My processor is a Ryzen 1600 and I'm considering overclocking it for better performance in gaming. I noticed how people are having core voltages at around 3-4, and suprisingly noticed mine is currently 1.184 V. The speed is 3.2GHz and noticed you can have it around 3.6.

One last thing to do with my memory, I have corsair 16GB 3000mhz DDR4 (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15) RAM and my speed is only on 2100mhz. I realised the reason for this is that my RAM is not compatible with my motherboard, therefore its capped, however this was the case last year and I'm hoping there was some BIOS updates I need to install for that compatibility. My BIOS version is 1.6.

Therefore my question is, is there compatiblity for this RAM so I can exceed 3000mhz and overclock my CPU to 3V and 3.6Ghz

Thanks

Solution
3v, do way.
AMD says that 1.425v is highest safe (core)voltage and up to 75c. Of course it's a bit conservative but you need a serious cooler if you want to get close to 4GHz.
Which exact RAM do you have ? 2133MHz is just a starting frequency for DDR4, yours may be able to go higher. Standard voltages for DDR4 are between 1.2v and 1.35v depending on XMP and frequency.

This is the exact RAM I brought, however the person who added it while adding my motherboard said the b350 tomahawk is not compatible therefore then you go higher then 2100mhz then computer would turn off and restart a few times.

One small question: My bios version is 1.6, when I look for bios updates on the website, it doesnt specify the version in numbers but letters:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-TOMAHAWK

Although he said there should be some bios updates that would allow compatiblity, I havent updated my bios for nearly a year.
