So as the title suggest I want to know the difference between the two and why the intel i7 6700k is better? I am studying for the CompTIA A+ exam but the way Mike Myers book is explaining to distinguishing cpu is a bit confusing. So please help me understand more better.

Solution
FX8350 (8 cores)= older, has more cores (2x), much slower single core performance, quite hot, not power efficient, no built-in gpu.
I7 6700k (4 cores+HT) = newer, has less core count but with hyperhreading, much faster single core performance, runs a lot cooler, much more power efficient, has built-in gpu.

If you are planing to get a new PC, I would say no for both I7 6700k and FX8350. I would go rather directly to Coffee Lake I5/7 8xxx or Ryzen 5/7.
If you really stuck between I7 6700k and FX8350, I would pick the I7 6700k.
Best is to do a comparative review like this one. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-AMD-FX-8350/3502vs1489 It will tell you all you need to know.

Basically the FX-8350 has 8 cores as opposed to 6. Better multitasking capability.
FX has 8MB of L2 Cache and Intel has 1MB.
FX is older technology but much cheaper to buy. (14nm v 32nm technology)

Intel is newer and much faster single core performance.
Intel runs at lower temps at base clock frequency.
Has a built in GPU.

the intel has 4C8T, no 6's of anything.

I used to have both an i5 6600k and an FX8350. Even though it was 4 cores vs 8 cores the 6600k (4 cores ) beat out the FX8350 in both gaming an rendering. Now add 4 more threads as the 6700k 4 core 8 threads is. It will destroy the FX 8350 in all games and applications. i7 6700k hands down is way better.

I do however agree with the guy above. If your building a new pc get the i7 8700k. Though the i5 8600k rocks too.

As everyone said before, older vs newer. 14nm vs 32nm. 8 cores vs 4 physical cores with HT which is 8 logical cores. So if I were you, Intel all the way. FX8350 just makes no sense, especially with its power consumption.

The 6700K is the way as it has much faster performance across all 4 cores and 8 threads. It is also much more effecient and if required overclocks very, very well. And as others have pointed out, it is on a newer process and actually just a hair of the 7700K which was the replecment to the 6700K...basically the same chip with a higher clock bump.
