Quick Help On Ram Upgrade

I Have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5577 it has 8GB ram and i want to upgrade it by adding a 16gb ram stick onto it to make it 24gb ram is it possible i can do so?? Its Maximum capacity is 32gb ram

RAM can be very finicky. Mixing and matching RAM does not always work. Even if you select RAM that is the same model. This is why RAM is sold in kits as they are tested together to ensure they work properly. It does not mean it wont work, but there can be problems. So if you go this route, but the RAM from a vendor with a good return policy just in case.

As for your current setup, your PC has 2 SODIMMs. I am not sure if you have 1x8gb stick of RAM or if you have 2x4gb. You will need to look and see how many memory sticks you have. If you have only one stick installed, then yes, you could add a 16gb stick and you would have 24gb of RAM, if it works (see above). If you have 2 sticks of ram 2x4gb, then you will have to take one...

Fact of the matter, very few applications that you will run on that laptop will use more than 16gb of RAM. I don't know of any games that use more than 16. Any RAM that is not used will not make your system faster as it will just sit there idle doing nothing. Your gest option is to get a 16gb kit (2x8gb) and install it in your laptop and sell your current 8gb.
