Hey all, I need your help! When i turned on my PC today it showed "CPU Fan Speed Error Detected". My cpu fan was connected to motherboard for almost two years without any problems. Also there wasn't any reason for it to stopped working. I've tried many different combinations: replugging fan connector, cleaning connector and MB with compressed air, plugging it to fan_opt. It still didn't work. I've noticed that when i give a little push to the cpu fan with my hand or compressed air it starts spinning at the very low speed when PC is on. Now it's working connected to one of CHA_FANs but it's not proper solution. Please advise if there is anything else that i could try. I was thinking about plugging cpu fan to the psu but i don't really know how to do this properly. Is my motherboard broken? Thanks for help!

My specs: i7-6700k, MB asus hero viii, cpu fan dark rock 3, psu corsair rm1000i.

But the CPU fan works when plugged to CHA_FAN... It's Dark Rock 3.

The fan bearing deteriorates over time. Once the fan begins to stall like that it's days are numbered. Sometimes a little WD-40 on the bearing itself may help for a while (remove the fan before trying). But it is time to replace the fan. They usually cost between $10 -30.
