Hi all,
I own a Dell Vostro 3560 with the amd 7670m graphics chip. It uses the HM77 intel chipset.
The laptop was shipped with an i5 3230m dual core intel processor

Can I upgrade the processor to an i7? furthermore could I upgrade it to a 4 core, 8 thread i7 processor?

I have searched google and looked at the service manual but there are different vostro 3560 models, some with quad core i7s, some with dual core i7s; also the manual says it supports processors up to 6mb lvl3 cache. Would 8mb cache i7s work in my laptop?
Thanks

Laptops generally aren't made to accept CPU upgrades. So your first step needs to be investigating if an upgrade is even possible. One way to know the answer is "No"? If none of the documentation or service manuals mention it. Usually Dell and other manufacturers will have a "CPU support" page where they list which CPUs will work on that model. If there is no such list then I'd take that as a sign the laptop is not upgradeable.

Of course you can always try it anyways, if the CPU is not soldered directly into the motherboard.
