What will happen when I upgrade my mobo and processor?

my current mobo: Asus 7170 deluxe.
my curent CPU: i7 6700k.
upgrade mobo: MSI Z370 pro carbon.
upgrade CPU: i8 8700k.
Will I have to reinstall all my games,windows,drivers etc? What are the chances of it not working?

When you change motherboard you should always reinstall Windows. If you don’t and the system actually runs you can have stability or performance issues. There is a chance the system won’t even boot if you don’t reinstall Windows.

For one Windows, if it works, won't be activated since, assuming Windows 10, your key is linked to the old motherboard.

You would need to call Microsoft and have them deactivate the key on the old motherboard.
