Hello,

I want to upgrade mi MAC mid 2011:
2,7 GHz i5, 2x2GB 1333 MHz DDR3.
I use it for Photoshop (mix use single layers and a lot of differents images in layers) and Indesign

I would like add 8gb Ram more, but I don't know the best way 2x4 GB or 1x8GB and the dual channel?

- 2x4GB 92,24€: http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/imac-3*1ghz-intel-dual-core-i3-%2827-inch---ddr3%29-late-2011/CT3309286
- 1x8GB 78,71 €: http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/imac-3*1ghz-intel-dual-core-i3-%2827-inch---ddr3%29-late-2011/CT5826024

And for SSD?
- MX500 250Gb 79,94€ http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/imac-3*1ghz-intel-dual-core-i3-%2827-inch---ddr3%29-late-2011/CT11286475

-BX300 240GB 88,55€ http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/imac-3*1ghz-intel-dual-core-i3-%2827-inch---ddr3%29-late-2011/CT10179031

Solution
The maximum RAM (Memory) for that Mini is 8GB so, in theory either choice would work. But, there is a slim possibility that the individual slots have a 4GB limit. I would search more for confirmation of that working or not. Or, just opt for the certain option of the 2x4gb.

As for the SSD choice, from LMGTFY:
http://en.lmgtfy.com/?q=crucial+ssd+mx500+bx300
That first result seems to have everything: http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Crucial-MX500-250GB-vs-Crucial-BX300-240GB/3951vs3946

I just found this:
"BY the way, the mid 2011 Mac mini will hold, use and acknowledge 16GB of ram. Yeah, I'm running 10GB right now and I'm waiting for another chip to get me to 12GB."
from here...

from here: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/59496/Replace+HDD+with+SSD%2C+will+any+SSD+work+%28Mac+Mini+mid+2011%29#answer70805. That requires that, not only will the single 8gb chip work but, also that it will support the use of 2x8gb for 16gb of RAM. I may have to upgrade mine...
