Hi, I am using an old laptop where the wireless card supports g and not n standard, and my wifi is very slow, I have been told I should upgrade but what do I have to do so n becomes an option for my current laptop? Do I have to buy a new wireless card or wireless adapter?

I am not that clued up on this kind of thing, so hopefully someone can help!

Thanks

It really depends on the laptop, most laptops the NIC is built in and sodered to the motherboard. Some, however, are not. I would recommend looking up what you have and if it is not built in I would replace the network card. If however your card is built in (it most likely is) then I would get the adapter.
