Buy what you love, or you will forever be second guessing yourself.

How high you can oc a 8700K is determined by the quality of your particular chip.
5.0 is a reasonable objective.
Usually, it is better to use the bios settings for overclocking.
Automated systems can be overly aggressive.

Benchmarks seem to show very little real difference in performance among motherboards using the same processor.

I needed a black and white board. I compared the Aorus Gaming 5 to the ASUS Prime. Honestly the Prime had features I didn't need or want, so I went with the slightly cheaper Gigabyte. A little less plastic would be nice, but that seems to be the industry trend.

I also advice against using the automatic overclocking tools. Usually apply too much voltage.

Funny enough I was looking at those boards when I was forced to upgrade I went with the Aorus Gaming 5. Decision came down to extra features like the Gigabyte having more usb ports and a dual bios. But in the end it's your money buy the one you like the most.
