I'm trying to build/use again my old pc for my nephew for his school works(mostly coding and programming) and a little bit of gaming(not heavy gaming, just dota 2 and the likes) and I want to ask if the VS450 is fine with these parts:

Athlon II X2 250
8gb DDR3 Ram
GTX 550Ti / 660
3 Fans

Of course i plan to upgrade that psu, it's just that I'm a little low on cash right now.

Thanks guys.

If all that is available to you is Corsair lineup then here's the rundown of their quality:
Corsair VS series PSUs are low quality units and the worst offered by Corsair. Corsair CS, CX and CXm series are better than VS series but build quality wise, they still are worse than anything offered by Seasonic. While Corsair AX, AXi, HX, HXi, RMx, RMi, TXm and SF series are on-par with Seasonic PSUs.

Or you can look for PSU Tier list for any other good quality PSU. Aim for Tier One (great quality) or Tier Two (good quality),

Note: Corsair VS series is Tier Four (low quality).

Cute, that build of yours is using the very same CPU as i have in my AMD build, full specs with pics in my sig.

As far as Corsair VS series goes and if you care about your PC, don't use that PSU since it's the worst offered by Corsair and it's a low build quality unit. For far better build quality PSU, go with any Seasonic unit in 500W range. E.g : S12II-520, M12II-520 EVO, Focus 550 or Focus+ 550,

Focus and Focus+ are the newest PSU lines from Seasonic and they come with 10 years of OEM warranty. S12II and M12II EVO series PSUs come with 5 years of OEM warranty.
All my 3 PCs: Skylake, Haswell and AMD are also powered by Seasonic.

seasonic's were actually my first pick but it's currently out of stock, even the evga psu's but vs450 isn't really that bad no? it won't blow up as soon as i plug it in and i mean i'm not overclocking anything, just for normal use and moderate gaming, so the question still stands, will it be okay for the said specs?

I am using the 650VS for more than a year without any problems but no overclock. I guess it will work as intended but as far as reliability is concerned, the reduced warranty is something to be taken into account. It may work for 5-7 years straight, or just a couple
