Installed new CPU Cooler & Sleeved Cable Extensions, Computer Freezes after startup.

Hi,

I just upgraded my air CPU cooler with the NZXT Kraken X62, and used a CableMod extension kit. My PC now freezes about 10s after the desktop loads every time, whilst startup applications are beginning to load. I can still boot into the BIOS with no problem or freezing.

I removed the cable extension kit, just in case, and the problem still persists. I have also checked that everything is plugged in properly several times, reconnected all cables, and tried tightening the screws for the cpu cooler with no luck.

I have no idea what to do now, any help would be appreciated.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 7700K Quad Core
GPU: GALAX GeForce GTX 1080
Motherboard: Gigabyte AORUS Z270X Gaming K5 LGA 1151
PSU: Corsair TX750M 750W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply
Ram: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3000Mhz
OS: Windows 10

Thanks! :)

Solution
It ended up being a software issue. I uninstalled Norton security in safe mode, and then reset the PC to fix connectivity issues and it works fine now. Unlucky timing, I guess.

Thank you for your help :)

I would check everything is plugged into the correct place, just to make sure (although you have said you have done this).

Try putting the original heatsink back on and see if the issue is there. If not, then the problem will somehow be related to the new AIO. If so, then some damage has been caused during the installation.

I would also check the BIOS profile for your CPU if you've overclocked, make sure it's not somehow undervolting itself.

Try re-seating the CPU. If that doesn't sort it, the only thing I can think of is that too much pressure was applied to the CPU during fitting the AIO; the newer Intel CPUs are susceptible to that. It's also possible you've damaged the motherboard somehow but unless you were clunky with things during fitting, I don't see what you could have done.
