Okay, so I have had problems with my WiFi for a while on my gaming pc. I have been using WiFi adapters but now I know that Ethernet is much better. I saw an outlet on amazon which looks like it has Ethernet ports https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000HPX46U/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1520425329&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=power+strip+with+ethernet&dpPl=1&dpID=31XQGussX5L&ref=plSrch
I was also looking and thought these Ethernet cables looked good https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01F7MLQ6W/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1520425280&sr=8-2-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=fastest+ethernet+cable&psc=1
My dad does not want the router moved to my room

I just wanted to know if 1 I could have Ethernet through this outlet and 2 it would be fast and dependable with these cables.

Thanks

What you linked is not a network device it is at best a surge protector. You will never see a surge on ethernet because it is already isolated. That plug likely is for filtering telephone or maybe DSL cables.

Pretty much it is a just a fancy ethernet cable splice. It just hooks 1 ethernet cable to another. It does not send any signal over the power. You might as well use a $0.50 ethernet coupler.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from benabean : "Ethernet Outlet Possible?"

Okay first I said he router is not close and will not be put in my room. Second I don’t understand why I can’t just plug the stupid cord into my pc and the outlet. If it doesn’t work then why is it even there?

If you don't understand I think you should research for yourself a bit. You came on here to ask and I have linked you a listing of a product called a "powerline adapter". There are two little boxes that come with the product, one plugs into a plug socket next to your router and you plug one small ethernet wire into the router and the small box. After that you take the second box to your room and you plug that into an available socket, you then take the other small ethernet wire (both wires are included) and you plug the wire into the small box and into your PC ethernet port. Generally the speeds and reliability go: Best - Ethernet (Fast and most reliable), Second best - Powerline (Fast and reliable), Worst - WiFi(Sometimes fast but almost always unreliable).

Nobody said you need to spend £200 to get ethernet. The problem with the product you linked is that the ethernet wire has no way to connect to the router that is not in your room. Powerline works by sending the internet signal from the router into the first small powerline box, then it gets sent through your houses wiring and up to the second small powerline box in your room. Please don't get rude when people are trying to help you, especially since you are asking us. We know about this stuff so you should trust us and our advice and make a decision for yourself.

Hopefully this helps.
