Computer reboots but reboot fails (gaming)

This issue does not always occur. Only sometimes and it can be very frequent or almost non existent.

My computer will shut down while gaming. Often times it will try to reboot but fails to do so. It gets stuck with all my LED fan lights on and one fan spinning (always the same fan) plus the cpu cooler fan spinning. Motherboards green power light is present. Not sure if GPU fans are spinning... I’ll have to check next time. I’ve checked the ram. Seems to be fine. No bent pins on CPU. All cables are plugged in and I often clean for dust. Computer is not overheating. No beeps and no BIOS when this issue occurs. My computer never beeps even on a good start up (not sure if normal/relevant).

I suspect the PSU or motherboard. But if it is the PSU... why can I game for hours sometimes and have no issues and then other times the computer tries to reboot... but fails (as mentioned previously).

Asus z87 a mobo

GTX 780 SC/ACX cooling
Corsair 600 PSU
Cryorig H7 heatsink
6 case fans

Any insight would be much appreciated. I’d like to make a trip to Fry’s, but I don’t want to make a second and third trip :p

This is a 5yr old build

You mixed two sets of RAM, recommend to remove one set then test the PC to see what happens.

For check the PSU, boot into the BIOS, in hardware monitor section or PC health monitor section, check the +3.3V, +5V, and +12V, you want to see they are within +/- 5%, if they are not the PSU has problem. eg. for +3.3V, it should be wihtin +3.1V to +3.45V.

Also may test the gtx780 in other PC, or use the EVGA software to increase the voltage little bit or underclock the gpu speed, that may help sometime, because the oc GPU may not run stable.

If your MB does not have onboard speaker, you will never hear the beep.

thanks for the reply! I actually replaced the PSU and it is working again. The two sets of ram are the same just different brands which is fine. I got a corsair cx750 but I'll have to return it and buy another one because the fan in this thing is so loud! I can't stand it.
