powercolor r9 380 front plate removed

Will my GPU still work if I remove the plate cover that shields the HDMI and display ports? I needed to test a build and the case was rubbing against the gpuplate so I removed it so it would fit in the motherboard. Long story short, build won't work. So I'm trying to remove all possibilities. Thank you.

That shield is ground for HDMI and DP ports but actually only for shielding their cables, there's couple more ground wires inside so it should work without "shields".

I had to do that several times while making custom system and cases. Just have to make sure GPU is working before that intervention and may have to find some other way to keep it in.
