according to the CPU support llist for that mobo the best CPU you could get for it is a Core 2 Extreme QX9650. this CPU is still a quad core with no hyperthreading but ups the clockspeed to 3.0GHZ. here is the list of CPU's your motherboard supports.

i'll leave someone else her on what GPU would be best for this because any new GPU you get even with this CPU i recommend will bottleneck the GPU

as for the graphics card.... look for a used gtx 970 for around 200 dollars or gtx 1060 (3 or 6gb for 250 dollars)

Its an old system. Im not sure how that CPU would handle todays games, and its the best one for that motherboard.

A gpu upgrade alone would help (up to a point) but what you really need is an overhaul of CPU, mobo, RAM and GPU

edit: like what superninja suggests.

You could certainly stick with the CPU you have and go for a new GPU. Games wise that would be the best improvement for the least amount of money.

Even the low end GT1030 is faster than an 8800 Ultra at this point. So depending on your budget you could try dropping in a GTX1050 or GTX1050Ti. Though better value for the money would be a used GTX970.

You don't have to go up to the extreme series, something like a normal Q9550 shouldn't be too hard to track down. Not a huge improvement over what you have, especially if you overclock it.
