Alright so i'm looking to upgrade from a I5 4440 with a 1150 and ddr3 to a I5 8400, but the problem is that i need a new motherboard and ddr4 that would cost like 400 euro's when my budget is maximum of 350€ Is there any way around this, maybe a equal good proccessor?

I would look at a 4790 or 4790k. Both of these CPUs will work with your current mobo and RAM. The "k" model is an unlocked CPU. So if you have a "Z" mobo, then I would get the 4790k. But if you have a "H" mobo, then I would get the 4790 as it does not support overclocking.

Look for a used one and you should be able to find one well under 350.

It depends on your needs.

Option 1- Upgrade what you have. Move from that i5 to an i7 like a 4770. The extra threads will be very helpful as games are starting to use more than 4 cores/4 threads, and for things like video editing or streaming your gameplay the extra threads will also be helpful. Downside? You're spending money on older tech and you won't get any of the new features/capabilities that a new CPU/motherboard/DDR4 combo would give you. Also, you'd be buying a used CPU, which means prices and availability are upredictable.

Option 2- the i5 8400 upgrade. Cost is the big downside since you'll need expensive DDR4 ram in addition to the CPU and motherboard.

So what kind of things are you doing and what performance do you need? That will determine what option is best for you.

Yes, the H81 will be able to overclock. But remember, this board was not designed to be overclocked and it does not have adequate power delivery or VRMs to get much of an overclock. So don't expect a heavy overclock on this board.

My suggestion is the keep the board and get a i7 4790. It is still one of the better CPUs for gaming even though it is a few years old. I would think the 4790 will be adequate for the next 1 to 2 years.

I am not sure how much RAM you currently have. 8gb is the minimum for gaming these days. So if you have less than 8gb, then you need 4gb more. RAM can be very finicky. Mixing and matching RAM does not always work, even if it is the same model. This is why RAM is sold in kits as they are tested to work together. You also have a dual channel board. Most modern mobos are dual channel. That means you need RAM in pairs of 2. So if you have 8gb installed on your PC in 2x4gb sticks, adding an additionally 4gb stick may give you some problems. So you should look at a 2x4gb kit for the upgrade.

Like I said, mixing and matching does not always work, but most of the time it does. So just buy a kit from a vendor that accepts returns just in case it does not.

If you're thinking about amazon or ebay, i can't use them if i live in europe and if i could the shipping would be 100+ dollars, so the cheapest one in my country is a new 4790 for 340 euros

You can, but it wont be as cheap and you wont get the heavy overclocks cause of your board. The reality is, you wont see difference between the chips in games except for benchmark scores. Visually they will be the same.

But if you are into overclocking, I totally get it and would want the 4790k chip.

A 2 minute search on ebay showed this for $250

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i7-4790-3-60GHz-Quad-Core-Processor-CPU-SR1QF-LGA-1150-8MB-12985/302664984465?epid=1937970904&hash=item46783d2791:g:wuoAAOSwbYdaot-c

Here is a 4790k for $300 and I think it is too much. Plus, with used unlocked chips, you just dont know how they were treated. Some of them have been road hard and put away wet.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-4-0GHz-SR219-LGA-1150-Quad-Core-CPU-Processor/253475256457?hash=item3b044d7889:g:FawAAOSw8jVaoL0y

Just look around in your area for CPUs. I think $250 is a reasonable price. I dont know what that translates into Euros, but if you take your time you will find a good deal.

Yeah but it's not that expensive, it's at bidding and right now it's at 120 dollars. And the reason I buy this is because this is the only one that is selling in my country
And what do you mean won't I be able to see the diffrens in game if I overclock it a little?

It is, but you do know how the ebay auction works? You enter max amount you are willing to pay and it automaticly bids for you up to that price, it will all happen in the last second, and trust me price wont be 130$, but feel free to try
